Press Trust of India Srinagar
Following an accident of a State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today directed the state administration to ensure that no bus from the corporation is deployed without fitness certification.

Vohra, who is also the chairman of Shri Amarnathji Yatra Shrine Board (SASB), directed chief secretary B B Vyas to ensure that no SRTC bus is deployed on long distance duty, particularly across Banihal, which has not been thoroughly checked and certified fit for operation by a responsible ranking SRTC officer, an official spokesman said here.

He said the Governor, who visited the accident spot earlier, was informed that the accident had taken place because a tyre burst and the vehicle had gone out of control.

The SRTC has already announced an inquiry into the accident.
