: Christians in Kerala today observed the Palm Sunday with religious reverence marking the beginning of Holy Week ending with Easter.
Large number of devotees thronged churches and attended special masses across the state.
Commemorating the day, faithfuls also took out processions holding palm leaves blessed by parish priests.

According to the Bible, 'Palm Sunday' is celebrated to mark the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem where people, irrespetive of rich and poor, greeted him by waving palm branches.
Churches distributed palm leaves among devotees as a rememberance of this Biblical episode.
Christians in Kerala, which constitute over 20 per cent of total population, will observe fast next one week with religious fervour and celerbrate Easter on April 5.
