Fake Income Tax officials arrested

The Police today arrested two men who were posing as Income Tax (IT) officials and checking the documents of a couple of shops in Katihar district of Bihar.

Katihar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rakesh Kumar said the arrested persons have been identified as Mohan Kumar of Madhubani district and Gopal Kumar of Saharsa district. A motorcycle belonging to them has also been seized.

"Posing as IT officials, the duo descended at two shops at Dumar Chowk under Pothia police station of the district. They started checking sales related documents of the shops and then demanded Rs 5,000 as bribe from the shop owners," the SDPO said.
 

He said the shop owners grew suspicious and overpowered them with the help of local residents. Both of them were handed over the police, which investigated and found them to be fake IT officials.
