Farmer hangs self due to crop loss

Upset over crop loss due to untimely rains and hailstorm, a 60-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in Milkipur tehsil of the district, police said today.

The deceased identified as Shiv Kumar went missing from his house and was later found hanging from a tree near his farm.

Gudiya Devi, village pradhan said that Kumar, a MNREGA labourer was facing severe financial crisis due to which he was disturbed.

Kumar, who is survived by a wife and four children, had taken a loan from a local lender on a high interest rate for marrying off his daughter and planned to pay it off by selling crops.
 

Faizabad district magistrate Anil Dheengra has ordered a probe into the matter.
