Farmers here claimed that they were given pittance as compensation for losses to crops suffered due to drought and staged a demonstration against it, with a threat to launch a bigger campaign.
They also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and warned that they would launch a bigger agitation if they are not given adequate compensation.
"We have suffered huge damage. Our crops have been completely damaged. We are seeking enhanced compensation," a farmer said.

Another farmer said they were given just Rs 200 per acre by the government while they had demanded for much more.
"They are giving Rs 200 per acre. We have sought Rs 4,000 per acre compensation. We should be given our dues," said another farmer.
Other farmers said that by giving such a meagre amount, the state government has payed a joke with the farmers.
