Father-son duo robbed of Rs 3.5 lakh at gunpoint

A man and his son were allegedly robbed of Rs 3.5 lakh at gunpoint by two motorcycle-borne persons in Santosh Nagar locality here today, police said.

The incident took place when the victims-- a railway employee and his son, who works with a private insurance company-- were coming out of a bank with the bag containing the cash, police said.

Both the accused were wearing helmet and they initially threatened the victims with a pistol and when they resisted, one of the accused fired in the air.

The panic-stricken victim them handed over the bag of cash to them, a senior police officer said.
 

"The act was carried out by professional offenders... We have verified the CCTV footage. We have got some clues and are on working on them," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) V Satyanarayana told PTI.

A hunt has been launched to nab the accused, who fled from the spot after the incident.
