A 22-year-old college-going girl, resident of Jajuwadi in Malegaon tehsil in Nashik district of Maharashtra, allegedly committed suicide because of teasing by a man, police said today.
The girl ended her life by consuming poison on the roadside yesterday morning, said assistant police inspector Sandip Borse from Vadner Khakurdi police station. She died at a hospital few hours later.
Jai Shelar (26), the accused, was arrested and a local court remanded him in five-day police custody.
Police have recovered her suicide note and further probe is on.
According to the complaint filed by the girl's brother, Jai used to harass her frequently and she was fed with it.
