Female elephant found gored to death in forest area

A female elephant was found gored to death in the Western Ghats forest area near Sethur, nearly eight km from here today.

Forest officials said the elephant had been gored by a rogue male elephant and had suffered serious injuries.

A veterinary doctor who did the post-mortem estimated that the pachyderm was 20-year-old.

The district wildlife warden Ashok kumar visited the spot for an enquiry.
