A female hippopotamus at Bondla Zoo, located around 60 km from here, died after being attacked by her male partner, a Goa Forest Department official said today.
The female hippo was pregnant after mating with the same male, he added.
The female pachyderm, 'Sarita', was attacked by her male partner 'Devdas' around 4.30 pm on October 4 inside the zoo enclosure where they were housed, the official said.
