Field officers (lekhpals) of the revenue department working in the rural areas of Kanpur district will soon be handed tablet devices to enable them to carry out their duties with greater efficiency, a senior official said today.

Additional District Magistrate (Finance) Shatrughan Singh said that age, caste and domicile certificates will now be verified online after the lekhpals start using the tablets to execute their tasks.

The lekhpals and 'naib tehsildars' will have to file online reports and hence the state government has given orders for them to be issued with the tablets, he said.

According to Singh, 105, 82 and 67 field officers, respectively, in the Sadar, Ghatampur and Bilhour tehsils will receive the tablets within a month.

"So far, three SDM-rank officials and 30 tehsildars have been given laptops so that they can send their daily reports online to the district administration," he said.

The tablets will help field officers send reports online to the tehsildar's office.
