In a unique tribute to the superstar of Bengali film industry, a 'Prosenjit film festival' is being organised to commemorate his three-decade long journey in Tollywood.
Thirty films incorporating both typical masala flicks and critically acclaimed ones are being screened in the festival.
Starting from Prosenjit's first flick 'Duti Pata' (1983) to the Dibakar Banerjee directed Hindi film 'Shanghai' (2012), the audience would be able to watch his long journey through the decades.
"Let today's generation see my films of the '90s and early 2000 as well," Prosenjit told PTI.
He said he told the organisers not to confine themselves in critically acclaimed films like 'Chokher Bali' (2003) or 'Moner Manush' (2010) and include masala movies like 'Swasurbari Jindabad' (2000) as well.
"I am known to my fans across the state for films like 'Swasurbari Jindabad'. Let people see films directed by Haranath Chakraborty and Swapan Saha films which also made me what I am today after all these years," said the actor.
"When I was first heard about the proposal (of the festival) by Bengal Filmlovers Association, I said so you are holding a film festival in a tribute to a personality who is still around," he added.
'Aparajita Tumi', 'Sab Choritro Kalponik', 'Amarsangi', 'Bikram Singha' are some of the other films being screened in the seven-day festival being held at Nandan and Uttam Mancha with association of Kolkata Municipal Corporation till May 23.
