A major fire today broke out in the office of the Income Tax department in Rishi Nagar here in which its record of last one decade was gutted.
Local residents informed fire brigade after spotting smoke billowing out of the office at around 10 AM, police said.
Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot which took over two hours to put out the flames.
Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax Gagan Kundra said the entire record of the last ten years of Range-five of the department was gutted in the fire.
Short circuit is believed to be the main cause of the fire, the Assitant Commissioner said.
No reports of any one getting injured in the incident has been received as yet.
