A fire broke out this evening at the top floor of a three-storey residential-cum-commercial building near New Market in Central Kolkata creating panic in the area, police said.
Seven fire tenders brought the situation under control within an hour.
There was no casualty in the incident, as all residents were immediately evacuated by the local people, police said.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damages were yet to be ascertained.
