Zinc prices traded higher by 0.28 per cent to Rs 179.85 per kg in the futures trade today as participants raised bets, taking positive cues from the spot market on firm demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in August edged up by 50 paise, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 179.85 per kg in a business turnover of 141 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in July contracts was trading higher by 35 paise, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 180.15 per kg in 1,295 lots.

Analysts said expansion of positions by traders owing to improved demand from consuming industries in the physical market influenced zinc prices in futures trade.
