Five Bangladeshis were sentenced to 28 days rigorous imprisonment for entering India without passport or any other valid document.

The judicial magistrate (first class) also ordered the Bangladeshi intruders to pay a fine of Rs 3,000 each under Indian Passport Act, failing which they would undergo simple imprisonment for one more month.

The five hailing from Khagracherri and Matiranga districts in Chittagong Hill Tract of Bangladesh entered Sabroom sub-division on Saturday last and BSF personnel arrested them and handed over to police the same day.

Tripura shares an 856-km long border with Bangladesh and about 65 km of the border still remains unfenced.
