Five persons were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) today for allegedly hiding the gold biscuits they had found abandoned on the Hyderabad railway station premises in their houses and planning to sell them.

The five men, including three licenced porters and two auto drivers, were booked on charge of the dishonest misappropriation of 2.8 kg gold biscuits worth Rs 84 lakh.

They found 28 gold biscuits on September 13, which they were planning to sell, the GRP said in a release.

The five men, however, approached the GRP Hyderabad office yesterday as they panicked in view of frisking and checking being carried out by GRP and RPF personnel on the station premises, it said.

During investigation, they confessed to have taken the gold biscuits to their houses.

"Later 28 gold biscuits weighing 2.8 kg were recovered from the accused persons and a case was registered under section 403 (dishonest misappropriation of property) and other relevant sections of the IPC and CrPc, and they were arrested," according to the release.
