A five-member delegation of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association from the UK (CPA UK) today met Haryana Speaker Kanwar Pal and discussed various issues of parliamentary systems.
The delegation was led by Member of Parliament of Labour Party Hon David Hanson and included Conservative Party MP Bob Blackman, House of Lords of Liberal Democratic Party Baroness Barker, British Deputy High Commissioner David Lelliott and Asia Pacific Programme Manager, CPA UK Rober Harper, an official release said here.
Apart from the Speaker, Deputy Speaker Santosh Yadav, MLAs Abhay Singh Yadav, Ghanshyam Dass Arora, Ravinder Baliyana, Geeta Bhukkal and Karan Singh Dalal were also present in the session.

During the interactive session, various key issues to strengthen parliamentary systems were discussed.
Issues like contribution of parliamentarians in good governance, role and power of parliamentary committees, reservation to women in parliament, total sitting of House in a year, role of Speaker and Education system were also discussed, according to the release.
The CPA UK delegation also invited the state Assembly Speaker and other legislators to the UK and witness the proceedings of House there.
