Five sentenced to life imprisonment for gangrape

Five youths were today sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court for gangrape of a girl.

District and Sessions Judge Kamal Dey sentenced Goutam Das, P Praveen Kumar, Somnath Chakraborty, Y Bhaskar and Kalidas Pattanaik to life term for gangrape of a class-XI on September 8, 2012.

Two other accused were acquitted for want of evidence and another is still absconding.

The girl was raped by the youths at a school at Kharagpur when she was returning home after her tuition classes.
