The main accused in the murder of former MLA and BSP leader Sarvesh Kumar Singh was today remanded in three days' police custody by a court here.

The remand order, effective from Aug. 9, was passed by the court of the in-charge Chief Judicial Magistrate Champat Singh on an application moved by police seeking custody of main accused Dhruv Kumar Singh alias Kuntu.

Prosecution sources said that the court remanded Kuntu to police custody from 3 P.M. On Aug. 9 to 3 P.M. On Aug. 12. Kuntu is already in jail in connection with the case.

The former SP MLA, who had later shifted to BSP, was shot dead along with another person outside his house on July 19.

His death led to violence in the area in which three persons were killed in police firing.

Under attack from the opposition, especially BSP, Uttar Pradesh government had last month recommended a CBI probe into the incident.
