Former armed police DIG shoots himself dead

A former DIG of the armed police shot himself dead today with the revolver of his securityman at his home here in Nadia district.

The 63-year-old Saroj Mohan Chakraborty shot himself dead at 11:30 am with the bullet piercing the skull above the right year, SDPO, Kalyani Chandrasekhar Bardhan.

Chakraborty kept the revolver of his securityman in a drawer in the house. The securityman was in an outhouse at the time of the shooting, Bardhan said.

A suicide note was found in the room, police sources said.
