Former director of the Central Arid Zone Research Center (CAZRI) M M Roy was today arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau for alleged irregularities in teachers' recruitment at Jai Narayan Vyas University (JNVU).
Roy had been appointed as a nominee of the Governor in the recruitment committee of the university in 2012 to ensure the entire process could accomplish as per rules and regulations, but was absent on the day of the declaration of the results of successful candidates by the committee, said Ajay Pal Lamba, SP Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).
"He was absent on the day of result. But inspite of being absent on that day, he had his signatures present on the orders of the successful candidates," Lamba said.

Post retirement, Roy had settled in Lucknow and had been summoned for interrogation yesterday by the ACB regarding his role in facilitating selection of ineligible candidates for the post of Assistant Professors.
"After a brief interrogation yesterday and today, finally we arrested him as he could not provide satisfactory replies confirming his involvement in facilitating the selection of ineligible candidates," Lamba said.
