Four children in the age group of 10-15 years, including two brothers, drowned in the Krishna near here today, officials said.
They had come along with two other children in an autorickshaw to take a look at the swollen river.
While the two children remained in the vehicle, the others alighted as soon as the driver, who brought them, went to answer nature's call.
They removed their shirts and got down to the river to bathe when they were washed away
There were quarry pits in the river and the children got stuck in them and drowned, Tadepalli Station House Officer R Narayan said, adding that the bodies were later recovered.
The children belonged to Chirravuru village near Tadepalli.

Guntur MP Galla Jayadev supervised the operation to retrieve the bodies.
Social welfare minister N Anand Babu visited the hospital, where the bodies are kept, and consoled the victims parents.
He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed grief over the incident.
