Four persons on way to Omkareshwar temple killed in mishap

Four persons, including two minor girls, who were on their way to Omkareshwar temple, were killed and six others injured when their SUV fell into a dry river bed while crossing a bridge over Narmada river near Barwah town in this district.

The victims, who were to visit the temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlings in the country, died when their vehicle fell into the dry river bed late last night, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), Barwah, Nisha Reddy said today.

The deceased were identified as -- car driver Mukesh Nagaria (35), Anita (17), Pachubai (45) and Vaishali (02), Reddy said.
 

The injured persons were referred to Indore for treatment.

The victims belonged to Mandu town in Dhar district, the police said, adding that a case was registered in this regard and further investigation was on.

In another mishap in the district four

students were injured when an ambulance hit them at Lake Town area this noon.

Police said the four, all class IX-X students were standing on the side of Jessore Road near a bus stop when the ambulance suddenly swerved from the road and mowed them down.

While three of them were under treatment at local hospital, another was discharged.
