Four tax officials suspended for corrupt practices

Four commercial taxes officials were today suspended for allegedly taking bribe from drivers on Katra-Jammu road in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reasi deputy commissioner Shahid Iqbal Choudhary caught the officials in the act near Domail on Katra-Jammu road, sources said.

On information, Excise Commissioner Kifayat Hussain Rizivi placed the four officials under suspension and ordered an inquiry by the additional commissioner of commercial taxes, they added.

The deputy commissioner (DC) found a number of vehicles parked haphazardly on the highway and guards taking money from drivers near Domail.

The drivers told the DC money was being demanded by the officials.
 

The DC seize the bribe amount and I-Cards of the officials and informed the matter to the Excise Commissioner.

The suspended officials are inspector Amandeep Singh, sub-inspector Abdul Rehman and gaurds Mohit Sharma and Mohammad Rustam.

The inspector was suspended for negligence of duty and other for involving in corrupt practices, they added.
