The French Ambassador to India Francois Richier today called on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and state's Finance and Industry Minister Amit Mitra during his three-day visit to the city.

This was his second tour of the state to expand the scope of Indo-French cooperation and develop joint venture projects in various fields, notably economic exchanges, tourism, social initiatives and culture, French Consulate sources said here.

Accompanied by Consul General of France in Kolkata Fabrice Etienne, Richier held meetings separately with the Chief Minister and her cabinet colleague in two phases to create an interactive platform for building better bilateral trade and explore a wide range of possibilities in exchanges between France and West Bengal, the sources said.
