A local court has sentenced a gangster to life imprisonment for murdering a shopkeeper in 2003 in Shamli district.
Additional district sessions judge D V Singh yesterday convicted Harish for murder and sentenced him to jail for life. It also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
A shopkeeper Dayanand was shot dead on December 6, 2003, by Harish in his shop after he failed to pay extortion money of Rs five lakh at Ghari Pukhta town in Shamli district, government lawyer Jitendra Tyagi said.
Harish was a member of Neetu Kail gang, he said.
