Ganja seized, one held

Over 400 kg of ganja has been seized and a 31-year-old man arrested in this connection at Periyapalayam in Tiruvallur district, the Narcotics Control Bureau said Friday.

The contraband, weighing 425 kg, was concealed in newspaper covers and hidden in the centre and rear seats of a sports unility vehicle (SUV) wuth a fake registration number, a release from A Bruno, Zonal Director, NCB, said.

A man, identified as Babu of Madurai district, was apprehended "for trafficking the contraband", it said.

"The contraband was trafficked on the directions of one person from Theni district who supplies ganja by sourcing it from Andhra-Odisha border," it said.

 

Periyapalayam is 40 km from Chennai.
