Gay rumours were a huge compliment: Jake Gyllenhaal

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who faced rumours about his sexuality after acting in 'Brokeback Mountain', believes such stories proved he portrayed his character convincingly.

The 32-year-old actor starred alongside late Heath Ledger in the 2005 Ang Lee film about two cowboys who embark on a forbidden romance, reported Digital Spy.

"Of course it's a huge compliment! One, being gay is awesome! Two, the rumours only prove what a believable performance you gave!

"Heath and I knew each other for years before that because we had both auditioned for Moulin Rouge together. And I remember thinking, 'I like this guy. He's just like, super-lovable'," he said.
 

Gyllenhaal said he still misses Ledger and his passing was like "losing a family member".
