Shares of IT firm Geometric surged nearly 12 per cent today after the company announced an interim dividend for 2015-16.
The stock rose sharply by 11.58 per cent to end at Rs 200.35 on BSE. During the day, it zoomed 12.94 per cent to Rs 202.80.
On NSE, the stock jumped 11.5 per cent to close at Rs 200.55.
The company added Rs 141.83 crore in market valuation at Rs 1,302.83 crore.
Volume-wise, 12.80 lakh shares of the company changed hands at BSE and over 61 lakh shares at NSE during the day.
Geometric Ltd had yesterday informed BSE that the board of directors of the company has considered and declared interim dividend for 2015-16 at a rate of 150 per cent, or Rs 3 per equity share.
The interim dividend shall be payable on and from March 30, the company had said in a BSE filing.
Meanwhile, Maverick Commodity Brokers today bought 0.5 per cent stake in the company for Rs 6.23 crore through a bulk deal.
Maverick acquired 3,26,094 shares of the company at an average price of Rs 191.15 per scrip.
