Girl drowns in pond

A 12-year-old girl died after she drowned in a pond in Kulheri village here, police said today.

Victim Ayesha and three other girls had gone to collect mud from the pond last evening and after entering it they started drowning, they said.

The villagers came out to help and were successful in rescuing Rehnuma (10), Shehzadi (11), and Wasima (9) but failed to save Ayesha.

Her body was later later fished out, police added.
