Gogoi accuses private airlines of charging high fares in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today accused private airlines of "trying to exploit" by charging high airfares in the state.
"The airfares charged by the private airlines for travel within Assam are very high despite the airlines enjoying concessions for operating here", Gogoi told reporters.
"Private airlines are trying to exploit and we are taking this very seriously. To fly from Guwahati to Jorhat (267 km) within Assam the fare is Rs 18,000. This cannot be tolerated," he said.
The Centre should look into the matter, the Chief Minister asserted.
