Gold biscuits seized, one held on Indo-Bangla border

Gold biscuits and a bar worth Rs 75 lakh have been seized by security forces from the Indo-Bangladesh border here.

A Border Security Force (BSF) patrol party apprehended one Saidul Islam Mandal (43) from the Tentulia check-post area in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal as he was allegedly carrying the gold weighing 2.69kg along with a few earrings made of the precious metal.

A total of 22 gold biscuits were seized from his motorbike, a senior official said.

Islam has been handed over to local police, they said.
