Gold ornaments, cash looted in separate incidents in Tirupur

Gold ornaments worth around Rs 27 lakh besides over Rs two lakh were stolen from two houses in separate incidents in nearby Tirupur district, police said today.
The incident took place when Subramanian (57), an industrialist, had gone to a temple yesterday, with his family, after handing over the key to one Ravi, undertaking renovation work of his house at Cherangadu, Tirupur.
When he returned home last night, he was shocked to find gold ornaments weighing 92 sovereigns and valued at around Rs 20 lakh besides Rs 1.50 lakh missing from the almirah, police said.

Meanwhile, in another incident, 32 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth Rs seven lakh and Rs 60,000 were looted by an unidentified gang that broke into a house of one Kamaraj in Kolinjivadi in Tirupur district, they said.
Two special teams have been formed to nab the culprits, they added.
