Govt asks quarry companies to pay losses to the exchequer

The administration has asked the companies to pay Rs 2,150 crore in the first stage.

Illegal mining had been done in 55 quarries and the government had lost Rs 12,000 crore. It had issued notice to the quarry units seeking their explanation, he told reporters here.

60 cases had been registered against companies, including for encroaching water bodies and government land, he said.
