Guar gum prices increased by Rs 39 to Rs 8,340 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators increased exposure, tracking a firm trend at the physical market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guar gum for December delivery hardened by Rs 39, or 0.47 per cent, to Rs 8,340 per quintal, showing an open interest of 66,200 lots.

In a similar fashion, guar gum for delivery this month looked up by Rs 22, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 8,235 per quintal, having an open interest of 1,475 lots.

Marketmen said, raising of bets by participants following a firm trend at the spot markets due to short supplies of guar seed against mounting demand, supported the upside in guar gum prices in futures trade.
