Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Thursday constituted an inquiry committee headed by Principal Secretary Sunaina Tomar to probe allegations of bigamy and cheating against IAS officer Dr Gaurav Dahiya.

The five-member committee will have three senior women IAS officers -- Tomar, Mamta Verma and Sonal Mishra.

The committee has been asked to give its report as soon as possible, said Gujarat chief secretary J N Singh.

Other members of the committee will be retired joint secretary Deviben Pandya and another officer who is yet to be named.

"The committee has been asked to give its report as soon as possible. After the report comes, we will decide on future course of action," Singh said.

A Delhi-based woman has accused Dahiya of bigamy and cheating in a complaint to police in the national capital, which was then transferred to Gujarat Police.

Dahiya has also approached the Sector-7 police in Gandhinagar with an application, alleging that he was honey- trapped and blackmailed by the woman.

Police are probing both the woman's complaint as well as Dahiya's plea.

Dahiya, a 2010-batch IAS officer, was transferred to the General Administration Department as a Joint Secretary on July 22 after the complaint was received against him. Before that he was mission director of the National Rural Health Mission in Gujarat.

The woman alleged in her complaint that Dahiya married her in February 2018 keeping her in the dark about his first marriage.
