Gujarat: one held with Rs five lakh in Rs 2,000 notes

City police arrested a person with Rs five lakh in Rs 2,000 denomination this morning.

Acting on a tip-off, Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) sleuths detained Jay Khatri near Kotecha Chowk on Kalavad road.

"Upon searching his bag we found 250 notes of Rs 2,000," said inspector H M Gadhavi.

"As he failed to provide any explanation about the source of cash, we have detained Khatri. We also informed the Income Tax Department," Gadhavi added.
