Gur rises on tight supply, fresh buying

Supported by tight stocks following restricted supplies and increased demand, gur prices today climbed by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets too depicted a firm trend and prices rose by Rs 50 per quintal.

Marketmen said considerable fall in arrivals from manufacturing belts against pick up in buying by stockists and retailers, attributed the rise in gur prices.

In Delhi, Gur pedi and Dhayya shot up by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,700-2,800 and Rs 2,900-3,000 per quintal, respectively.

At Muzaffarnagar, gur Chakku, Khurpa and Laddoo traded higher by Rs 50 each to end at Rs 2,450-2,550, Rs 2,350-2,400 and Rs 2,450-2,500 per quintal.
 

Gur Raskat prices also went up by Rs 50 at Rs 2,350-2,400 per quintal on strong demand from beer makers.

At Muradnagar, prices of gur Pedi and Dhayya went up by Rs 50 each to Rs 2,400-2,450 and Rs 2,450-2,500 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,700-2,800, pedi Rs 2,700-2,800, dhayya Rs 2,900-3,000 and shakkar Rs 2,900-3,000.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,350-2,400, chakku Rs 2,450-2,550, khurpa Rs 2,350-2,400 and Ladoo Rs 2,450-2,500.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,350-2,400 and dhayya Rs 2,450-2,500.
