Gur up on paucity of stock, speculative buying

Gur prices strengthened by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today following paucity of stocks amid speculative buying.

Muzaffarnagar gur market also displayed a firm trend on scarcity of stocks and increased buying, it registered sharp gains of up to Rs 250 per quintal.

Marketmen said shortage of stocks due to negligible arrivals from manufacturing belts due to adverse weather conditions along with speculative buying by stockists and retailers pushed up gur prices in Delhi and Muzaffarnagar.

In Delhi, gur Chakku and Dhayya spurted by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,100-3,200 and Rs 3,300-3,400 per quintal, respectively.

 

At Muzaffarnagar, gur Chakku prices shot up by Rs 250 to end at Rs 2,750-3,000, while Laddo prices gained by Rs 150 to Rs 2,900-3,000 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,100-3,200, pedi Rs 3,000-3,100, dhayya Rs 3,300-3,400 and shakkar Rs 3,300-3,400.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,100-2,150, chakku Rs 2,750-3,000, khurpa Rs 2,450-2,500 and Ladoo Rs 2,900- 3,000.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,650-2,750 and dhayya Rs 2,750-2800.
