Hardened criminal carrying Rs. 50,000 on his head arrested

A wanted offender carrying Rs. 50,000 reward on his head was arrested today with weapons from a village under Laxmipur police station area in Bihar's Jamui district, a police officer said.

Acting on a tip-off, the local police and the CRPF, in a joint operation, arrested the anti-social Ramesh Hembram from his in-law's place with two country-made pistols and six ammunition, Laxmipur police station in-charge Vivek Bharti said.

He was wanted in several criminal cases, including murder, road robbery and kidnapping under different police station areas of the district, Bharti said.

Hembram had escaped from a court lock up last year with five other criminals, the police officer said, adding the district police had announced Rs. 50,000 reward on his head in view of his criminal antecedents.
