Haryana Police has decided to set up Police Community Hubs (PCH) in the state with view to resolve conflicts, marital disputes and to maintain amity and brotherhood among people.

Stating this after inaugurating the first 'Police Janta Sadan' or PCH at Panchkula today, Director General of Police S N Vashisht said the hub will have separate halls for women and senior citizens.

The initiative is taken to bridge the gap between police and people, the DGP said, according to an official release here.

The PCHs would encourage cooperation of people with the police and also to resolve conflicts without police intervention, he said.

"The hub has been set up specially for senior citizens, women and children," he said and called upon people to come forward and help the police in amicably resolving conflicts.

He further said there is no intention to restrain social media stressed, "It was not about restraining social media, but about preventing its misuse," he said.

Some anti-social elements are always looking for a chance to disturb communal harmony by misusing social media and effective measures need to be taken to put a check on its misuse, Vashisht said.

Meanwhile, the DGP said Hooda has also requested for a special package of Rs 500 crore so that the state police could get facilities at par with Delhi Police, as similar problems are being faced by Haryana due to its close proximity to the national capital.
