Aiming to de-stress students from academic pressure, Haryana government will introduce activities like music, painting, mimicry in polytechnic institutes.

"With a view to bring the students out of stress caused due to academic and individual pressure, light activities like music (vocal and instrumental), arts, sketching, painting, mimicry and mimes shall be introduced in polytechnic institutes", said Haryana Technical Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma here.

He said this initiative will provide a de-stressing environment and facilitate a platform for harnessing latent talent in students.

Sharma said musical instruments like harmonium, guitar, table and drums would soon be purchased by every government polytechnic.

Principals of all government polytechnics have been directed to start art and music rooms within two months, he added.

The minister said steps were taken to introduce NSS/NCC in the polytechnics last year.

Students are trained in yoga, imparted first aid training through Red Cross, focus is laid on gender sensitisation and self defence training is also imparted to girl students in government polytechnics. This practice would continue this year also, he added.
