A day after senior Congress leader Amarinder Singh warned the Centre and the Punjab government against "robbing Punjab of its waters," Haryana today said it would get its due share of the SYL water.

Captain Amarinder had yesterday said that the BJP-SAD government in Punjab are ready to reach a "compromise" and accept the "terms and conditions" about the SYL which are "grossly against Punjab".

Terming Amarinder's thinking on the river-water issue "negative", Haryana Health minister Anil Vij said his state would get its due share of water in the Sutlej-Yamuna-Link canal.

"We are always ready to solve inter-state and other issues while maintaining peace in the state," Vij said in Kurukshetra.

Vij alleged that the thinking of the Congress Party and Captain Amrinder Singh had always been negative on inter-state issues.

"Our thinking is positive and approach constructive. We will ensure that the people of Haryana get their due. Haryana has legitimate right over the SYL canal water and the Congress Party cannot deprive the state of its rightful share in river waters," he asserted.

Notably, Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati had assured Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar that the Centre will prepare a roadmap within 45 days for finding a solution to SYL and other inter-state issues with Punjab.

Meanwhile, on IAS officer Ashok Khemka's transfer, Vij said it was an administrative matter.

"Khemka will be welcome if sent to the Health Department," he quipped.

Referring to drug addiction, he said the state government was quite concerned about the menace.

A special scheme is being prepared to make the state drug-free and save the youth from the addiction.

He directed superintendents of police and officers concerned to take stern action against those found indulging in drug trade.
