US President Donald Trump today said there is a long way to go on denuclearisation of North Korea.
We still have a long ways to go, but the commitment that the North Koreans made frankly, that Chairman Kim personally made to President Trump remains, has been reinforced, Pompeo said at a news conference in Kabul where he made an unannounced stop on his way to Brussels.
Pompeo was responding to questions on critical statements made by North Korea following his meetings with officials in Pyongyang last week. He appeared to disagree with the general media impression that North Korea is backtracking on its commitment.
I saw some of the statements came out. They were mixed. You haven't reported on the mixed statements, but maybe you will now. The statements that were put out, Chairman Kim's statement following our discussions, continued to express his desire to complete the denuclearisation to which he is so committed, Pompeo said.
