: With the state government failing to produce files relating to sanctioning of Plus Two schools and additional batches this academic year, Kerala High Court today expressed displeasure at its attitude.
On Monday last, the court on a batch of petitions challenging the government decision on sanctioning of plus two schools, had directed government to produce all files by today saying that that it had to examine whether Plus Two courses and the 476 additional batches were sanctioned in a fair and transparent manner.
However, when the matter came up before Justice P R Ramachandra Menon, Advocate General, K P Dandapani sought more time for production of files.
AG informed the court that files were received by him only this morning and he could not peruse the same.
The Judge responded saying 'this shows the sad state of affairs. Why does government consider this matter in a casual manner ?'.
"Only six hours is required to bring files from Thiruvananthapuram. This is too much and shows the irresponsible way of conduct by the government", the court orally observed.
Initially the court imposed a cost of Rs 10,000 on the government for its lapses, but considering the repeated request of the AG, it withdrew the same. The case will be considered tomorrow.
Muslim Education Society (MES) and others had approached the court stating that the plus two courses were not sanctioned based on the educational need and on the basis of recommendations of expert committee.
