Kerala High Court today stayed the construction of Karnataka Bhavan at Nilakkal, enroute to the hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa at Sabarimala.
The order in this regard was issued by a division bench comprising Justice T R Ramachandran Nair and Justice P V Asha while considering a report of Devaswom Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman in his report had wanted to know if the Travancore Devaswom Board, which manages the temple, had the power to enter into such agreement with Karnataka state for building construction.

He also wanted to know if court's prior permission was required for it.
After considering the report, the bench stayed the construction works until further orders.
The court also suo motu impleaded Karnataka and Hindu Religious Endowments Department of Karntaka in the case.
The case will be considered after two weeks.
