HDFC Mutual Fund launches close-ended equity scheme

HDFC Mutual Fund today launched a three-year close-ended equity scheme -- HDFC Focused Equity Fund-Plan A -- for investing in eligible securities as per Rajiv Gandhi Equity Savings Scheme (RGESS).

The new fund offer (NFO), which opens on 15 January, will close on 13 February.

The scheme shall predominantly invest in eligible securities of RGESS (minimum 95 per cent) and shall invest in cash and cash equivalents and money market instruments and liquid schemes (maximum 5 per cent), only to the extent necessary to meet the liquidity requirements for honouring redemptions (at the time of maturity)/expenses, the company said in a release.

Jindal, Koehler to debate on steel industry on Twitter * JSW Steel's Chairman and Managing Director Sajjan Jindal and Tata Steel Europe CEO Karl Koehler will, among others, debate on the future of the industry in a twitter handle on January 27.

World Steel Association (WSA), a global industry body, would also bring together steel associations and academics to debate on the future of the industry and its contribution to the green economy for one hour, starting at 7.30 PM.

In a release issued today, the industry association said the panel would also include Gordon Irons, Emeritus Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, McMaster University; Tom Gibson, President and CEO, American Iron and Steel Institute and Julian Allwood, Professor of Engineering and Environment, University of Cambridge.
