Heavy rains lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh for the second day today, which led to marginal fall in temperatures.
Gohar in Mandi district was wettest with 165 mm rains while, Sundernagar and Bijahi recorded 121 mm and 110 mm of rains, followed by Sarkaghat 81 mm, Paonta Sahib and Dharampur 62 mm, Nahan 58 mm, Mehre 49 mm, Banjar 47 mm, Kasauli and Jhanjehli 46 mm, Kahu 43 mm, Karsog and Pachhad 42 mm, Solan and Pandoh 41 mm, Manali and Sangrah 38 mm, Dalhousie 37 mm, Shimla 29 mm, Hamirpur 18.6 mm, Dharamsala and Bhuntar 18 mm and Bilaspur 16 mm.
The minimum temperatures dropped marginally due to overnight intermittent rains and Manali was coldest during the night with a low of 10.2 degrees Celsius while Kalpa and Shimla recorded minimum temperatures at 13.2 degrees Celsius and 14.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Keylong 14.9 degrees Celsius, Dharamsala 16 degrees Celsius, Nahan 16.5 degrees Celsius, Solan 17.5 degrees Celsius, Palampur 18 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 19.4 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 19.8 degrees Celsius and Una 24.4 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature rose by three degrees at Una which was hottest in the state with a high of 37.7 degrees Celsius while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded maximum temperatures at 32.1 degrees Celsius, and 32 degrees Celsius, followed by Dharamshala 30.2 degrees Celsius, Nahan 29.3 degrees Celsius, Solan 27 degrees Celsius, Shimla 24.5 degrees Celsius, Manali 22 degrees Celsius and Kalpa 21.4 degrees Celsius.
The rains have brought cheers to farmers as it would provide much needed moisture for Kharif crop which had almost been sown in most parts of the state.
The local MeT office has predicted rains and thunderstorm at many places in lower, mid and higher hills during next six days from June 17 onwards.
The MeT office said that pre-monsoon rains would continue for few days and monsoon is expected to hit the state in the last week of June.
