Heroin worth Rs 5.5 lakh seized in Mizoram

Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department officials today seized 151 grams of heroin at Champhati district and arrested two persons in this connection, a department spokesman said.

The spokesman said a woman was arrested for alleged possession of the drugs while a man was arrested for reportedly transporting the drugs.

The contraband was worth around Rs 5.5 lakh in the local market, the official said.

The accused persons were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, the spokesman added.
