Six 'Hindu Makkal Katchi' workers, including its chief Arjun Sampath, were today booked for allegedly bursting crackers near the district collectorate here, police said today.

The workers led by Sampath had allegedly burst crackers near the collectorate yesterday to celebrate demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes by the Centre.

Based on complaints by some officials and police officials present on duty there, Race Course police registered cases against Sampath and others under various Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections including 143 (punishment for unlawful assembly), they said.
